Personal Safety Guidelines for In-Person Meetups
At TaggedTripTM, we are committed to fostering meaningful travel experiences and community connections. However, your personal safety is paramount, especially when choosing to meet someone in person for the first time through our platform. While many users enjoy positive interactions, it’s important to recognize that meeting new individuals—particularly those you’ve only interacted with online—can present risks. TaggedTripTM does not screen users or guarantee the intentions or identity of any individual. We strongly encourage users to exercise caution and discretion when arranging to meet others through our app.
To support your safety, please review and follow the guidelines below:
1. Conduct Independent Research
Prior to meeting, take reasonable steps to independently verify information about the other person. This may include checking publicly available online profiles or conducting basic web searches. Use your own judgment and proceed only if you feel confident and secure in doing so.
2. Use Your TaggedTripTM Temporary Email Address
For your privacy and protection, TaggedTripTM provides a temporary email alias when you make a trip public to connect with others. We recommend using this email exclusively until you feel comfortable sharing your personal contact information. You are under no obligation to disclose your permanent contact details.
3. Choose Public Meeting Locations
Always arrange to meet in well-lit, public areas such as hotel lobbies, cafés, parks, museums, or shopping centers. Avoid secluded spaces or private residences, especially for initial meetings.
4. Inform a Trusted Contact
Share your plans with a friend or family member. Provide them with the name, photo (if available), and meeting details. Agree on a scheduled check-in time and a discreet code word in case you need to signal discomfort or require assistance.
5. Arrange Your Own Transportation
Use your own method of transportation to and from the meeting location. Do not rely on the other party for rides. Have a backup transportation option available, such as a rideshare app, taxi, or a friend on standby, in case of unexpected circumstances.
6. Trust Your Instincts
If at any point something feels suspicious or uncomfortable, do not hesitate to leave immediately. Your well-being takes precedence. You are not required to explain or justify your departure.
7. Avoid Impairment
Stay sober and alert during your meeting. Alcohol or substances that impair judgment may put you at greater risk. Maintain a clear head to make informed decisions.
8. Protect Personal Information
Do not share sensitive personal information such as your home address, phone number, financial details, or travel itinerary until you have built a high level of trust with the individual. Disclose information gradually and only as appropriate.
